Why Your Lips Need Extra Care in Cooler Weather

With the drier air that accompanies fall and winter, your skin, especially your lips, is more prone to dryness and cracking. But don't worry—our Marshmallow Root Lip Balm recipe is here to protect your lips from the elements. Marshmallow root is renowned for its moisturizing properties, and when combined with coconut oil and beeswax, this balm creates a barrier that locks in moisture and shields your lips from harsh weather.

DIY Marshmallow Root Lip Balm Recipe

This simple, effective lip balm recipe uses marshmallow root-infused sunflower oil, which deeply nourishes your lips. Follow these easy steps to create a soothing balm that keeps your lips soft and smooth throughout the cooler months:

Ingredients:

  • 1½ tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1½ tablespoons beeswax pastilles
  • 5 drops peppermint (Mentha x piperita) essential oil

Directions:

  1. Combine the marshmallow root-infused oil, coconut oil, and beeswax pastilles in a double boiler. Warm over medium-low heat until fully melted.
  2. Remove from heat and pour the mixture into a heat-safe container with a spout.
  3. Add the peppermint essential oil and quickly stir to combine.
  4. Pour the liquid mixture into lip balm tubes or metal tins, being careful not to overfill.
